Thursdays

As I write this post it is Thursday evening and I am completing my day while everyone at home is just beginning their day. It is still difficult to get used to the time difference when you are half way around the world from home. The week has gone by very fast although the days sometimes seem very long. I have been involved in this ministry long enough that I pretty well know what to expect as the week goes by.
The first part of the week is full of freshness and vitality as we meet together as a teacher and class for the first time. There is an anxiousness to learn on the part of the students and a desire to provide the students with a blessing on the part of the teacher.

Thursday is usually the most difficult day of the week. By Thursday everyone is getting worn out. Sitting in a plastic chair in sweltering heat for eight or nine hours a day has taken its toll on the students. Standing in front of a podium in the sweltering heat and speaking for eight or nine hours has certainly taken its toll on the teacher - especially this teacher. I know that is the way that Thursdays are going to be, but this one was particularly difficult.

It is the monsoon season in Goa. It rains every day. The rain has not been too bad - mostly at night - until today. It poured and poured down rain this morning. Several times I had to just stop and wait for the rain to subside because the students simply could not hear me. Then this afternoon the sun came out and we had the hottest afternoon of the week. I think at one point that we had all fallen asleep. But now tomorrow is Friday, we will finish the course and can all get ready for a new week. They will be looking forward to the last two weeks of their training and I will be looking forward to a new experience as I go to the city of Mumbai.
