Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!!

While I have been in Mumbai they have had record rainfall. (Why couldn't some of this fall on Texas and Oklahoma?) On Monday the streets were flooded and washed out in many places. The subways were closed due to flooding and train service (the most common means of transportation) came to a halt because of mud slides and flooded tracks.
The site of the Pastor's Institute is about 13 miles from my hotel (At least, that is what I am told). It took an hour and a half to travel that distance on Monday. Today (Tuesday) we were able to make the trip in a little over an hour. One thing they don't have to worry about here is speeders. Speeding is an impossibility. You can't speed when you are constantly dodging people walking in the road, cows lying in the road, dogs running in the road, vehicles that have died in the road and oh yes, the incredible stream of assorted bicycles, motorbikes, three-wheeled taxis, trucks, vans, and cars that are actually driving on the road.
I've posted some pictures that may give you an idea of what it is like to drive from where I am staying to the ministry site.

A view out the windshield of the flooded, potholed roads.

Closer look at the condition of the roads.

Oncoming traffic.

The next few photos are what it's like driving through a town. (Not Mumbai)

The ministry site is outside of the city proper. So there are places where there is more of a countryside. It is even more remote looking once you get to the Lighthouse Ministries.

Makes me very thankful for where I live.
